especially those involving Meghan Markle's prince charming. Harry has made headlines for everything from
smoking weed to dressing as a Nazi, but he's put his controversial past behind him to settle
down with his TV star fiance. The press has painted their union as the match
of the ages, with Harry sweetly describing the royals as the "family" Meghan "never had." But Meghan does have a family, she just isn't
inviting most of it to the royal wedding. Meghan's father was initially going to walk
the actress down the aisle, but she confirmed just days prior that he's too ill to attend.
Her mother, however, will attend and recently
flew to England to meet the queen. As for the rest of the Markle clan, they can
keep waiting for that invite. Here's why. Half-brother, full shade It's no wonder Meghan didn't send her estranged
half-brother a save-the-date card, considering he went on the record begging Prince Harry
to call the whole thing off.
In an open letter obtained by InTouch Weekly
in May 2018, just weeks before the wedding, Thomas Markle Jr. Warned Prince Harry that
marrying his sister would be "the biggest mistake in royal history" because... "[Meghan is a] jaded, shallow, conceited woman
that will make a joke of you and the royal family heritage." Thomas Jr. May be bitter because his famous
half-sis has been out-of-touch for "seven or so" years, and he's had a pretty rough
go of it recently.
He was arrested for allegedly holding a gun
to his now-fiance Darlene's head in the heat of a boozed-up argument in January 2017. But Thomas swears it wasn't that bad. According to court documents, he says he was
only pointing the gun at Darlene to get her to leave. Thomas has since apologized for his drunken
behavior and vowed to get better, but it's a safe bet the royal family would prefer he
keeps his distance.
Especially after Darlene, Markle's future
sister-in-law, was also arrested for assaulting Thomas Jr. In a drunken altercation in the
early hours of New Year's Day 2018. Half-sister, full shade Meghan Markle is also reportedly estranged
from her half-sister, Samantha Grant, who recently changed her name to Samantha Markle. They supposedly haven't spoken in about 10
years, and Grant said Meghan is to blame.
In an appearance on Good Morning Britain,
Grant claimed that she drifted apart from her sister after being diagnosed with multiple
sclerosis in 2008. She later slammed the Suits actress on Australian
radio for allegedly ignoring her condition, saying, "Humanitarianism begins at home. That doesn't mean monetary, it means reaching
out." In 201, Grant launched a $20,000 GoFundMe
campaign to help raise money to make her home more wheelchair accessible. There's no word on whether the royal family
donated to Grant's cause, but since Meghan's chatty half-sis criticized the extravagance
of the $75,000 dress the actress wore for her engagement shoot, that answer is probably
a hard no.
Considering Grant's grievances and the total
lack of communication between the two, it's no surprise she won't be attending the royal
wedding. Not to mention Grant's initial plans to title
her in-progress memoir The Diary of Princess Pushy's Sister, or the time she reportedly
declared her half-sister a "shallow social climber." Or that time Grant allegedly put Harry on
blast for "letting his bride-to-be ignore her family." Or when she was said to have taken a cheap
shot at Harry's masculinity, telling him to "man up." Or... You get the idea! Growing strains Tyler Dooley, Meghan's nephew from half-brother
Thomas Jr., Grows weed legally in Oregon, but in the UK, his greenhouse would get him
jailed for years. It's a rather scandalous career for someone
so close to the royals.
Despite not getting invited, Dooley is totally
pumped about Meghan and Harry's wedding and made a special strain to commemorate the occasion. It's called "Markle's Sparkle," and he told
the Daily Mail he's "more than happy" to give Prince Harry a sample if he ever visits. We suspect Harry, who was forced to visit
a drug rehab center after his father caught him smoking weed, probably won't take Dooley
up on that offer. Maybe Meghan can lend him some money to get
a shirt for his business without typos.
Souther? Showing restraint It's no secret that the Markle family is a
bit unpredictable, and royal wedding planners are probably not big on surprises. Not to mention, how does one gather their
family members together if restraining orders are potentially involved? At one point, Samantha Grant reportedly had
a restraining order against her own mother, Roslyn Markle, who was married to Meghan's
father before Meghan was born. In 2015, Grant filed a restraining order against
Roslyn, which was dismissed in a week, but this mother-daughter dynamic is still not
a good one. In fact, it seems Roslyn is one of the few
blended family members who is on Meghan's side.
According to the Daily Mail, Roslyn said, "[My daughter] has been dogging [Meghan] for
the last 20 years. Everything she has said about her is a lie." Things are so tense between Meghan and her
kin, in fact, that she chose to invite more than 1,000 strangers to her nuptials instead
of her relatives. On the bright side, it's tradition in the
UK for bridesmaids to be children, and the royal family has plenty of cute kids to offer
up. No invite? No problem.
Meghan's headline-making family may not technically
be invited to the royal wedding, but that apparently hasn't stopped some members from
showing up in London anyway. According to TMZ, Meghan's aunt, Tracy Dooley,
and nephews Thomas and Tyler, the cannabis connoisseur, were spotted at Heathrow airport
about a week before the wedding with suitcases in tow. It was initially reported that the trio had
landed a weekend gig as special correspondents for Good Morning Britain and were set to help
cover the nuptials, but now the show says it's not happening. The Dooleys have been exceedingly kind to
Meghan in the press and previously appeared on the morning show to say they were "so proud"
of the future princess, despite the royal snub.
Hopefully they'll at least get a good vacation
out of this mess. Thanks for watching! Click the Nicki Swift icon to subscribe to
